Quality control
Seven stages, from raw material to packing
Each stage has its own checks before work moves on.
Raw material
- Visual, GSM and thickness checks
- Tensile and tear strength, abrasion, UV and hardness tests
Lamination
- Gas-fired heaters and a heating chamber
- Sheets pressed in a hydraulic press to dry completely
- Checked for even lamination, moisture content and weight
Printing
- Printing confirmed against the customer's design
- Trial run signed off before printing starts
- Printed panels inspected; tape and scratch tests; top coat on selected models
Stitch preparation
- 100% panel inspection
- Unstitched ball weighed and checked against the spec
Stitching
- Inflated ball inspected for stitching and other defects
- Approved balls passed on to final testing
Final test
- Balls inflated for at least 24 hours before inspection
- Checked for leaks, printing, weight, circumference and roundness
- Random balls tested with a 2,000-kick shooting machine
Packaging
- Inflated balls washed and dried
- Deflated by machine to keep a consistent shape
Tested in our own lab
Materials: tensile and tear strength, abrasion, UV ageing, hardness, thickness and weight. Balls: rebound, water absorption and shooting.
